The Second International Conference on China Development Theory (ICCDT)
——China under the "Great Change in a Century"
We are pleased to announce the Call for Papers for the Second International Conference on China Development Theory to be held on October 17-18, 2020 in School of Economics, Renmin University of China.
More than 40 years of reform and development in China have created a China Miracle. To explore the general laws and economic logic of China's development experience is the important mission and responsibility of the economists, especially the development economists. Thus, the School of Economics at Renmin University of China held the First International Conference on China Development Theory in 2019, which gained positive response and great success.
2020 is the key year for China to eliminate absolute poverty and realize a well-off society in an all-round way. Meanwhile, as a major public health event, the COVID-19 epidemic outbreak which began earlier this year has been raging around the world, and it has a huge impact on both China's and the global economy. In order to summarize the important experience of China's development in theory, and to study the changing trend of China and the world under the challenge of the COVID-19 epidemic, the School of Economics at Renmin University of China is scheduled to hold the Second International Conference on China Development Theory at Renmin University of China from October 17 (Saturday) to 18 (Sunday), 2020.
The conference will invite the renowned development economist, Professor Andrew Foster, the editor-in-chief of the Journal of Development Economics to make a keynote speech, and domestic experts to conduct round-table discussions on key theoretical issues on China’s development. Meanwhile, the conference will cooperate with China Economic Review (SSCI 1st tier, impact factor 2.106) to publish a special issue on China's poverty reduction, with China & World Economy (SSCI journal, impact factor 1.066) to publish a special issue on China's experience in building a well-off society in an all-round way, and with Management World (in Chinese) to publish a special issue on China's experience and development theory innovation. Moreover, some excellent conference papers will be recommended to Journal of Asian Economics (SSCI journal, impact factor 1.111).
The topics of the Second International Conference on China Development Theory include:
(1) The impact of the COVID-19 epidemic on the global and China’s economy
(2) China's experience in building a well-off society in an all-round way
(3) China's poverty reduction: theory and practice
(4)China's experience and development theory innovation (including development experiment method, industrial organization, labor market, and international trade)
The conference does not entail conference fees, and the Organizing Committee will pay for lunch. Transportation and accommodation are not covered. Please submit your papers to nxwangmu@163.com by e-mail before August 15, 2020, and please indicate in the title of the email “International Conference on China Development Theory + Presenter’s Affiliated institution + Presenter’s Name”. For the authors who plan to contribute to any cooperated journal, please indicate that on the front page of the paper.
