作者简介：
尤金 L. 格兰特 (Eugene L. Grant)
工程学博士，原斯坦福大学经济系教授。1947～1956年间任斯坦福大学工程学院行政院长，1946～1952年间任工业工程委员会主席。二战期间，他为战时工业的关键人物开办了一门短训课程：质量控制统计方法，后来成为战时生产委员会和美国教育部制定的相关教材的范本。1952年，他获得美国社会工程经济学委员会(ASQC)颁发的Shewhart奖章, 1966年，ASQC设立了格兰特年度奖学金。1987年，他成为全美工程学会的一员。他的另一本著作：《工程经济学原理》，成为畅销世界的经典教材。
理查德 S. 利温沃思 (Richard S. Leavenworth)
斯坦福大学工程学博士，原佛罗里达大学教授，曾任该大学工业系统工程学学院院长。
在海军研究院的资助下，利温沃思教授的研究硕果累累，他所作的技术报告及在权威杂志上发表的论文不计其数。他长年在美国商业局、通用电气公司、佛罗里达交通局，哈里斯公司、乔治·华盛顿大学等部门和机构进行培训指导。他曾担任全国工业工程协会副主席、《工程经济》杂志编辑，现任美国质量控制委员会委员。
