Indonesia''s banking sector rehabilitation has made little or nocontributionto economic recovery partly because poor policy choiceshave been adopted.Professor McLoed will discuss in details theshortcomings of ten major policycomponents, such as failure to sterilize the monetary impact of providing bankswith liquidity support, reducing instead of increasing the minimum capital adequacy requirement for banks, arbitrary closure of insolvent banks, arbitrary nationalization of insolvent banks, etc.. Implications of these shortcomings on Indonesia''s economic recovery will be discussed.
