就世界杯谈全球化

The first stage of globalization, which began with the Berlin Wall''s fall in 1989, opened up the traditional industrial world''s markets. Now, emerging markets, and particularly those in Asia, are driving the second stage of globalization. Their growth, innovation and capabilities will determine what the world looks like in the 21st century.

Frederick Kempe, named one of the “50 most influential Europeans”, will look at the opportunities and threats in this shift and the long term political, economic and business consequences of what he terms “Globalization 2.0”.

Prior to taking up his current position, Mr. Kempe was Editor and Associate Publisher of The Wall Street Journal Europe. Under his direction, the paper won a number of prestigious awards including the Media Tenor Award in 2004 as the top international paper in Europe and six ‘Business Journalist of the Year’ awards from the World Leadership Forum in London. He is the author of three books including "FATHER/LAND, A Personal Search for the New Germany". His widely-read weekly column, “Thinking Global”, appears regularly in The Wall Street Journal Asia.

Mr. Kempe is a graduate of the University of Utah and has his masters from Columbia University. He has received honorary doctorates from the University of Maryland University College and from Queens University in Charlotte, North Carolina.
