Abstract
In my dissertation, I consider several critical non-monetary practices and theorize on their influences towards the behavior of individuals and subsequently affect firm performance in the workplace. In the first chapter, I examine the differential impact of workplace training compared with institutional training on the voluntary turnover decision of the individual. In the second chapter, I examine the practice of flexible work hours as a moderator in the relationship between workplace strategy and organizational performance. In my final chapter, I determine the impact of mandatory volunteer experience on the employment decisions of youths upon graduation.  In addition to my dissertation, I also examine the psychology of how people think about money as an important decision in the employment relationship.
 
Introduction of the presenter
Doctor Lee has recently successfully defended my PhD in industrial relations and human resources at the University of Toronto this year. His future research, building upon several published papers, aims to focus on advancing the understanding of the impact of monetary returns in the employment relationship in both an Asian and a North American context. He teaching experience as a course instructor at the post-secondary level ranges from introductory organizational behavior, human resource management to more advanced topics such as compensation and human resource planning.
